Hi, I'm Stella, founder of Zen Premium Tea and a passionate believer that a truly great cup of tea can change your day.

My journey with Japanese tea began long before Zen Premium Tea existed. I fell in love with the ritual of tea: the stillness it creates, the warmth it brings and the centuries of craft behind every sip. What started as a personal passion became a mission: to bring the finest traditional Japanese teas to tea lovers across Canada.

We source our matcha and hojicha directly from some of Japan’s most renowned tea-growing regions.

Yame, Fukuoka — Nestled in the mountains of Kyushu, Yame is famed for producing some of Japan’s most refined gyokuro and matcha. Its misty climate, mineral-rich soil, and generations of expertise result in teas with exceptional depth and natural sweetness.

Uji, Kyoto — Widely regarded as the birthplace of Japanese matcha, Uji is synonymous with prestige and tradition. Matcha from Uji is known for its vibrant color, smooth umami, and beautifully balanced flavor.

Kagoshima — Located at the southern tip of Japan, Kagoshima is celebrated for its innovative farming techniques and fertile volcanic soil. The result is fresh, bright matcha with a clean, modern profile.

Kaga, Ishikawa — A historic region deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture, Kaga is known for its distinctive hojicha and carefully crafted teas.

By working directly with farmers in these regions, we ensure every product meets our uncompromising standards, while supporting the people behind the craft.

We believe the best tea is made the old way. That's why we prioritize teas produced using traditional stone-grinding methods and harvested during the prized spring season, when tea leaves are at their most vibrant and nutrient-rich.

Every order is packaged and shipped by hand from our small operation in Burnaby, BC. We're a small Canadian business — and we think that's something to be proud of. It means every package gets personal attention and every customer matters to us.
